The city’s European/Latin setting, vast history, and new-age modernity combined with our fully-equipped study center attracts students in variety of internship fields. Valencia is an excellent entrance to Spanish-speaking culture, and is a major Mediterranean port, with opportunities in all areas related to sea trade and shipping.

All internships are part-time and unpaid. All interns are interviewed and assigned a placement prior to departure to Valencia. Levels of Spanish comprehension and conversation vary according to placement. Specific placements are not and cannot be guaranteed. Each case will be reviewed individually and some exceptions maybe considered.

Eligibility

This program is open to all degree-seeking FSU students.

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Students must be undergraduates (at least a Sophomore) with a declared major
  • Students must have intermediate Spanish competency as demonstrated by one or more of the following:
    * Enrolled in SPN2240 or equivalent
    * Completed SPN 2240 or equivalent
    * Test to level of SPN2240 on Modern Languages’ placement test
    * Advanced competency as determined by interview

Placements

Specific placements cannot be guaranteed, are subject to availability, and may require specific skills or previous experience. Internship opportunities for those seeking a professional global experience through this program can include, but are not limited to the following placements areas:

  • Hospitality
  • Psychology
  • Sports Management

* Early application could be required (minimum 6 months)
** Spring and Fall semesters only

Other areas of placement may be considered after consultation with the Valencia staff.


Part-time
(Fall/Spring/Summer) 18-22 hours/week

  • 12-13 credits (2 classes & internship) + partial social/community programs (excursions/group activities) no exceptions
  • 4-6 hours/day, M-Th

Study Center

Positioned behind the iconic Torres de Serranos, FSU Valencia is located in the heart of Valencia’s historic district. The study center brings history to life with exposed 10th-century Moorish walls and glass floors that showcase 14th-century leather tanning tanks. Modern comforts, including classrooms, a computer lab, study spaces, and administrative offices blend in seamlessly with the historic learning environment. A beautiful river-bed park just steps away from the study center, and the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences is within walking distance. 24/7 reception and swipe card access ensure student safety is the top priority.

Housing

Students interning at FSU Valencia are housed in shared apartments in the historic district of the city. Apartments are located either above the study center or in nearby buildings. Amenities include fully equipped kitchens, lounge space, cable TV, Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, weekly cleaning service with a change of bed linens and towels, and secure access to the study center’s library, computer lab, and study spaces. Students receive meal vouchers that can be redeemed at restaurants across Spain. Overnight guests are not allowed in program housing. For a list of hotels near the campus, please click here.
