Spring Semester

(January to April): The spring semester starts off cold and dark (it gets dark about 4:30pm in January). January and February the average temperature is around 40°F. Expect rain, wind and grey clouds. It rarely snows, but if it does, it is usually in January and February. March and April remain relatively cold with the occasional burst of sunshine and some summery days. The average temperature is about 55°F. This is when the weather is the most unpredictable – it can be rainy in the morning and sunny in the afternoon. However, as the days get longer and the flowers start blooming, everyone soon forgets about the winter!

Summer Semester

(May to August): London is beautiful and the weather is generally very pleasant in the summer. The days are long (it gets dark about 10pm in June) and the average temperature is about 65-70°F. It is generally sunny. However, cloud and rain are also to be expected some days. It can be unseasonably cold one week (45°F), followed by a “heatwave” (e.g.: 90°F) the next.

Fall Semester

(September to December): The fall semester starts off warm and gradually gets colder and darker. In general the fall sees cloud, wind and some rain, but it is also interspersed with sunshine. Sometimes the warm weather is prolonged in an “Indian summer” that can last through to early October. The average temperature in September and October is about 60°F. The average temperature in November and December is about 40°F. Expect more rain and wind in the later months. Snow is unlikely, but not impossible.
