This course examines the development and management of sport systems in international contexts, with a focus on professional leagues, national sport organizations, and athlete development programs. Through a combination of traditional instruction, engagement with international sport professionals, and opportunities for field-based learning experiences, students analyze the challenges and opportunities in diverse sporting landscapes. During the mid-semester visit to Panama, students engage directly with leaders from Pandeportes, the national sport governance body, and other sport industry professionals; conduct site visits; and gather primary research to inform their consulting projects. The course culminates in final project presentations delivered to Panamanian sport leaders, offering evidence-based solutions for enhancing the country’s sport system.
