Global Sport Management
Panama City, Panama | Spring Break
Gain hands-on consulting experience with Panama's emerging sport market as you work with Panamanian organizations who are playing a key a role in international sport development. Help develop solutions for real-world challenges with the Panamanian Institute of Sports and Recreation, Pandeportes. Working with Pandeportes, the government body responsible for promoting and managing sports in Panama, provides unique insight into how the institute manages everything from elite athlete development to community sport programming. After meetings with industry leaders and gathering research, you'll present a project to Panamanian sport leaders, contributing to a greater goal of partnership in transforming Panama's sport ecosystem. Travel to Panama over spring break as part of a spring semester course in Tallahassee.
Eligibility
This program is open to all interested undergraduate and graduate students.
Other Considerations & Requirements
Priority is given to students in good conduct standing with a GPA of 2.5 or higher; exceptions may be granted upon appeal. You must enroll in the IP section of SPM 4602 Development of International Sport Organizations or SPM 5191 Theory and Practice in International Sport Development on the Tallahassee campus during the spring semester and will go abroad as a component of the course during the specified dates.
Note: Do not purchase airline tickets until advised to do so in the IP portal.

FSU Panama Branch Campus
The only FSU branch campus abroad, FSU Panama is situated in the City of Knowledge, a complex shared by educational organizations and NGOs. The FSU Panama building has classrooms, a computer lab, wellness room, admin offices, and more. The City of Knowledge offers various amenities to FSU students, including a basketball court, pool, and local bakeries and restaurants.
Housing
You'll live in either dorm-style or hotel-style accommodations within the City of Knowledge complex, just a short walk or shuttle ride away from the FSU Panama classroom building. Each room has air conditioning and Wi-Fi.
Note: Overnight guests are not allowed in program housing.


Academics
On this program, you'll study a focused curriculum with an FSU faculty member. Take a course during the spring semester and go abroad during spring break as part of the class. You’ll have the opportunity to use the city as your classroom through immersive academic experiences.
