Intensive French
Paris, France | Summer
Immerse yourself in the language and culture of Paris as you study French through one of Paris’ most prestigious language schools, the Institut Catholique. After a placement exam, you'll learn from French-speaking faculty through immersive classes taught entirely in French. Gain a better understanding of Paris and the significance of this global city as you explore through museum visits and guided tours of the city.
Eligibility
This program is open to all students interested in an intensive study of French language and culture. See an advisor in the French department before enrolling in courses.
Other Considerations & Requirements
Priority is given to students in good conduct standing with a GPA of 2.5 or higher; exceptions may be granted upon appeal. You will take an online placement exam before you go abroad through the Institut Catholique de Paris (ICP) where you will be studying.
Note: Do not purchase airline tickets until advised to do so in the IP portal.
Housing
You'll live in comfortable accommodations at the Cité Universitaire, an international campus in Paris built and maintained by countries from all over the world. Rooms are private with en suite bathroom. You will be able to prepare meals in shared kitchens.
Note: Overnight guests are not allowed in program housing.


Academics
On this program, you'll take classes from instructors at the Institut Catholique de Paris (ICP) with opportunities to use the city as your classroom through immersive academic experiences. All levels of French language are available.
You will take an ICP placement exam and register for Directed Individual Study (DIS) courses supervised by your FSU program leader. Upon successful completion of your courses abroad, you’ll receive academic credit for the equivalent French language courses at FSU.
Excursions & Activities
You'll receive a program calendar before you leave; here are some examples taken from past programs of potential excursions & activities you may do:
Day trip: Fontainebleau (including a visit to the Chateau and a group meal)
Local experiences: River cruise down the Seine River, tour of the Opera Garnier, museum visits (including the Musée d'Orsay, Musée de l'Oragaine, and/or Jardin des Plantes), walking tours of Parisian neighborhoods, Palace of Versailles visit
