Montreux, Switzerland | Summer
Discover a world of hotels, restaurants, foods, and wines in the heartland of the European hospitality industry. Explore the beautiful town of Montreux in the heart of the Swiss Riviera. Immersive learning provides the ideal educational balance between accelerated classroom instruction, program and independent travel, and on-site observation of industry operations. Learn through guest lectures, class meetings, and relevant excursions. You're expected to travel independently while abroad (ideally in small groups) to better understand the hospitality curriculum.
Eligibility
This program is open to all interested undergraduate students but is of particular interest to Hospitality majors.
Other Considerations & Requirements
Priority is given to students in good conduct standing with a GPA of 2.5 or higher; exceptions may be granted upon appeal. On this program you'll be expected to travel independently (ideally in small groups) providing a framework for the curriculum and program learning objectives.
Note: Do not purchase airline tickets until advised to do so in the IP portal.
Housing
You'll stay at the Swiss Education Academy in shared dorm-style accommodations with ensuite bathrooms. On-site staff prepare and serve meals each class day (which will be noted on your program calendar).
Note: Overnight guests are not allowed in program housing.


Academics
On this program, you'll study a focused curriculum with an FSU faculty member. You’ll have the opportunity to use the city as your classroom through immersive academic experiences.
Excursions & Activities
You'll receive a program calendar before you leave; here are some examples taken from past programs of potential excursions & activities you may do:
Overnight trip: Interlaken (including tours & lunches at Hotel Victoria Jungfrau & Giessbach Hotel)
Day trips: Lausanne (including the Olympic Museum), Gruyère (including a chocolate factory workshop & museum tour and visit of the medieval Château de Gruyères castle), Geneva (including Patek Philippe Museum and United Nations tour), and attending the Open Wine Cellars festival
Academic & other local experiences: Rochers-de-Naye cog railway, Montreux Casino and/or Freddie Mercury Museum, Chillon Castle, Chateau de Vullierens, military fortress, Glacier 3000 mountain cable car, Culinary Arts Academy & Mosimann Collection visits
