Communication Science & Disorders

Expand your knowledge of the communication science and disorders discipline as you explore clinical practice in an international setting throughout London. Learn through a combination of site visits and guest lectures featuring preeminent physicians, clinicians, and researchers who represent a wide range of specialties across the field, from voice and cochlear implant services to schools supporting students with diverse communication and learning needs. Increase your understanding of the profession as you engage with globally recognized experts and organizations, gaining firsthand insight into evidence-based practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovative approaches to speech-language pathology and audiology.
Eligibility
This program is open to interested undergraduate students who have been accepted into the upper-division major of a Communication Science & Disorders program.
Other Considerations & Requirements
Priority is given to students in good conduct standing with a GPA of 2.5 or higher; exceptions may be granted upon appeal. All participants are expected to complete SPA 4004 and SPA 4101C prior to the start of the program.

FSU London Study Center
Housed in a historic 17th century row of townhouses, the FSU London study center is located in the heart of central London's Bloomsbury district. The FSU London study center has a computer lab, library, admin offices, a student lounge, and more. Centrally located, the study center is the perfect hub for exploring all London has to offer.
Housing
Housing is flat (or apartment) style and is located either in the study center or in comparable accommodations in central London. Each flat includes a fully-equipped kitchen, shared bathroom, and a furnished living area. Wi-Fi and a regular cleaning service with a change of bed linens and towels is included. You'll also have access to laundry facilities.
Note: Overnight guests are not allowed in program housing.

Academics
On this program, you'll study a focused curriculum with an FSU faculty member. You’ll have the opportunity to use the city as your classroom through immersive academic experiences.
Excursions & Activities
You'll receive a program calendar before you leave; here are some examples taken from past programs of potential excursions & activities you may do:
Overnight trip (one trip per session): Bath & Stonehenge, the Lake District, Yorkshire, and/or Cornwall
Day trips: Hampton Court Palace, Cambridge, Oxford, Brighton, Blenheim Palace, and/or Windsor Castle
Academic & other local experiences: Clinic visits (including: Meath School, Treetops, UCL, Michael Palin Centre), Tower of London, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, West End theater performances, visits to the British Museum, Westminster Abbey, Churchill War Rooms, and/or other historic sites
Extracurricular activities: Walking tours, movie nights, sports watch parties, and/or afternoon tea
