Theatre Academy London: Musical Theatre
London, England | Fall

Gain musical and physical theater skills through voice, dance, and musical theater repertory classes. Expand your skills in musical theater through this FSU Theatre Academy London (TAL) Musical Theater program. Experience London's vibrant theater scene as you explore the West End and attend theater performances from the traditional to the cutting edge. See shows and take classes taught by distinguished faculty — including some of London’s leading theater artists. Immersive learning through theater training helps you develop your skills and add depth to your theater work. Visit Shakespeare's Globe and Stratford-upon-Avon and learn through backstage visits to London’s great national companies and from guest artists.

Application

Eligibility
Due to the performance nature of this program, all applicants must be theatre majors who have completed college level Acting 1 or Performance 1 courses at the time of application and/or been approved to participate by the FSU School of Theatre. FSU BA students must have completed, prior to the program, THE 3213 World Theatre History I and THE 3214 World Theatre History II. Students may be asked to submit an audition tape to ensure appropriate academic advising.

Other Considerations & Requirements
Priority is given to students in good conduct standing with a GPA of 2.5 or higher; exceptions may be granted upon appeal.

Note: Do not purchase airline tickets until advised to do so in the IP portal.

FSU London Study Center

Housed in a historic 17th century row of townhouses, the FSU London study center is located in the heart of central London's Bloomsbury district. The FSU London study center has a computer lab, library, admin offices, a student lounge, and more. Centrally located, the study center is the perfect hub for exploring all London has to offer.

Housing

Housing is flat (or apartment) style and is located either in the study center or in comparable accommodations in central London. Each flat includes a fully-equipped kitchen, shared bathroom, and a furnished living area. Wi-Fi and a regular cleaning service with a change of bed linens and towels is included. You'll also have access to laundry facilities.

Note: Overnight guests are not allowed in program housing.

Academics

On this program, you'll study a focused curriculum with London-based FSU faculty members. You’ll have the opportunity to use the city as your classroom through immersive academic experiences.

Excursions & Activities

You'll receive a program calendar before you leave; here are some examples taken from past programs of potential excursions & activities you may do:

Overnight trips (two trips): Bath & Stonehenge, The Lake District, and/or Wales adventure weekend

Day trips: Hampton Court Palace, Cambridge, Oxford, Brighton, Blenheim Palace, and/or Windsor Castle

Academic & other local experiences: West End and other theater performances, Tower of London, Kew Palace & Gardens, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Greenwich, Buckingham Palace, visits to the British Museum, Westminster Abbey, Churchill War Rooms, and/or other historic sites

Extracurricular activities: Walking tours, movie nights, sports watch parties, and/or afternoon tea
