Security & Cooperation in Southeastern Europe
Dubrovnik, Croatia | Summer
Explore the beautiful city of Dubrovnik through the eyes of local students and faculty. Positioned on the stunning Dalmatian coast, Dubrovnik is a medieval walled city that lends itself to studying international security and cooperation. Learn about a variety of topics from the wars of the 1990s to the expansion of NATO and the European Union. Explore the history of the region while developing and presenting a class research project. You'll take an overnight trip to Sarajevo and stay in the heart of the Ottoman city, where the spires of Catholic cathedrals, Orthodox churches, and mosques dot the skyline.
Eligibility
This program is open to all interested undergraduate and graduate students.
Other Considerations & Requirements
Priority is given to students in good conduct standing with a GPA of 2.5 or higher; exceptions may be granted upon appeal. Students will be required to complete online coursework before and after the program.
Note: Do not purchase airline tickets until advised to do so in the IP portal.
Housing
You'll live in a monastery featuring shared double or triple occupancy dorm-style rooms. Air cooling, Wi-Fi, and a small fridge in your room are included. Taxi/shuttle services can be arranged for an extra fee upon arrival to Dubrovnik.
Note: Overnight guests are not allowed in program housing.


Academics
On this program, you'll study a focused curriculum with an FSU faculty member. You’ll have the opportunity to use the city as your classroom through immersive academic experiences.
Excursions & Activities
You'll receive a program calendar before you leave; here are some examples taken from past programs of potential excursions & activities you may do:
Overnight trip: Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina (including city tour and/or War Childhood museum)
Day trip: Lopud, Croatia and/or Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Local experiences: Dubrovnik city walls walk, museum visits (including War Photography museum and/or Red History museum)
Class visits: Attending a conference with guest speakers
