Course Description

This course introduces foundational concepts in the history and theory of architecture, interiors, furniture, and decorative objects in Europe and America from the early 19th century to the present. Through readings, discussions, and guided research, students explore how social, cultural, and technological forces have shaped design practices and learn methods for analyzing built environments and material culture.
