Course Description

This laboratory offers an introduction to quantitative techniques and to the chemical laboratory. Topics include stoichiometry, atomic spectra, thermodynamics, gases, as well as acids and bases, chemical structures, and reactivity. Safety goggles, a lab coat and a scientific calculator are required for every class. Lab meets three hours a week. This course is designed for students pursuing careers in the sciences or who need a more rigorous presentation of chemical concepts than is offered in an introductory course. Students will engage in problem solving and critical thinking while applying chemical concepts. Topics will include the principles of chemistry including atomic theory, electronic and molecular structure, measurement, stoichiometry, bonding, periodicity, thermochemistry, nomenclature, solutions, and the properties of gases.

Note: Some courses are offered on multiple programs and some are not. Be sure to double check that the course you want is offered in the location and for the program session/dates that you are interested in. Contact us if you have any questions.
