Course Description

This course offers an introductory survey of contemporary and historical music traditions in global perspective. Regions and styles covered include a range of classical, folk, indigenous, and popular genres of North America, South America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, Australia, Oceania, and/or Europe, including works from the Western canon. The course is designed specifically for non-music majors and requires no prior musical training or experience.
