Choosing a "College Program"
In today’s academic environment it is imperative that you make the most of every credit and all of the dollars you spend on your education. Choosing the right program is one of the most important decisions you will make. You should discuss your decision with family members, your academic advisor and others whose counsel you trust. Once you have determined what is important, you can use the program finder to narrow the options based on your priorities, or you can select a location from the options in the left hand menu.
Location
We have programs located in over 20 countries, and we operate year-round study centers in four locations – London, England; Florence, Italy; Panama City, Republic of Panama; Valencia, Spain. Each of the study center locations offers a broad curriculum program each term, and some curriculum-focused programs are based at study centers as well.
Type of Curriculum
We have three curricular models – the broad curriculum programs, the curriculum-focused programs, and internships. Broad curriculum programs include a wide range of classes that meet liberal studies requirements, popular major requirements, or explore academic areas of interest based on the location of the program. Students at any stage of their degree progression may be able to participate in a broad curriculum program, but they are likely of greater interest to students earlier in their degree progression. All of the year-round study centers offer broad curriculum programs. The curriculum-focused programs offer courses that focus on one or two specific academic areas of interest. They are generally of greater interest to upper division students. Some classes and programs have prerequisites that must be completed before the program. These programs may be located at a study center or any other location around the world. The internship program provides an outstanding opportunity for upper division students with a GPA of 3.0 or above to gain work experience and academic credit at the same time. Internships are available in the four study center locations.
Length of Study
Students may choose to spend as little as one week or as much as a full year abroad. Most summer programs are six weeks in length and are scheduled so participants may take classes in Tallahassee during the other six week term. Students who are able to dedicate more time and resources may choose to spend the fall or spring semesters or both summer sessions abroad, though these longer options are only available at the four study center locations.
Other Types of Programs
In addition to our college programs, we offer internships, First Year Abroad (FYA), and College for High School (CHS) programs.
