Introducing the Global Pathways Certificate
The award winning Global Pathways Certificate maximizes the rich cultural learning experiences available to The Florida State University undergraduate and graduate students. The Certificate provides its students with invaluable cross-cultural skills and the competencies needed to be a global-ready graduate. It is noted on official transcripts and can be used as an important focal point when creating a resume and highlighting the numerous benefits of an international experience for potential employers. As part of the Certificate Program, students engage in reflections that help them to articulate the importance of their experiences in the process of developing into a true global citizen.
Completing the Study Abroad Requirement Through our Program Opportunities
International Programs presents the perfect resource for Certificate participants to meet that program’s study abroad requirement. By choosing to complete the study abroad experience using our programs, students benefit from the unique supportive collaboration between our two departments.With a shared commitment to making each student’s program the best experience possible, our unified assistance with planning and coordinating a study abroad adventure facilitates student participation in a way no other resource can possibly compete.
Matching our Programs to Certificate Themes
As a Certificate program participant, students in all majors are assisted in enhancing their study abroad experiences by choosing a certificate theme which is based on their interests and goals. Once a theme is selected, students choose a study abroad program that will allow them to take related academic courses and pursue a foreign language. Traveling and studying in a country related to their chosen theme provides active learning and reflection opportunities combined with cross-cultural interaction and an invaluable dialogue exchange.
Students often return from their International Programs experience having completed the necessary academic studies and foreign language requirements in addition to the study abroad requirement. Many also come home from one program eager to take advantage of our additional program opportunities including international internships.

Note: International Programs students wishing to attain the Certificate must also take courses addressing contemporary international issues, meet the University foreign language requirements for the B.A. degree, participate in international events or activities, and complete a synthesis project.
