Italy Internship Program
This program is designed to provide students with real work experience while
enjoying one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The Florida State University
first opened its doors in Florence in 1966, the year of the Great Flood. Many students
helped save important works of art damaged by the flood. To thank the students,
the Florida State Florence Program was given a key to the city. This initial union
between Florida State and the City of Florence created a special relationship that
has grown stronger over the years. As a result, the Florida State Florence Program
is able to provide outstanding internship opportunities in one of the world's most
magnificent cities, renowned for its glorious cultural history.
Placements are made on a case-by-case basis and potentially can be found in a
large variety of fields. Past interns have been placed in positions with prestigious
art museums and galleries. Florida State also has contacts with art restoration
specialists and world-class hotels and restaurants. All of these opportunities
immerse students in the unique culture of Florence. This experience and exposure
will raise awareness of, and potentially provide entrée to, a variety of career
opportunities. Interns will gain unparalleled practical work experience, make
invaluable connections, and acquire international employment references.
Fall and spring students will be required to obtain a student visa. Details are supplied after acceptance and on the
Immigration Information page of our website.
Note: Interns must have completed ITA1120 Basic Italian prior to departure. All
internship placements are part-time. In addition to the internship credits, interns
are required to take an Italian language class, unless they have completed at
least 3 semesters of Italian.
