FSU London Study Centre Faculty
The London Study Centre is very lucky to have a regular group of faculty members who return to us semester after semester, as well as a large group of visiting professors and local adjuncts who join us as required to teach a range of liberal arts and special program courses. This semester’s faculty includes:
Dr. Richard Weight
Dr. Richard Weight is a historian and broadcaster, holding degrees from the University of Cambridge and University College London. He is the author of several books, including Patriots: National Identity in Britain 1940-2000 (Macmillan, 2002) and The A-Z Guide to Modern Britain (Random House, 2003). Richard writes and presents documentaries for the BBC, is a contributor to The Times, a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and of the Royal Society of Arts. He is currently writing a history of British youth culture, to be published in Britain and the United States by Random House.
Ruth Mateer
Ruth Mateer was born in Northern Ireland. She was educated there and in the Universities of Michigan and Oxford. She has taught for many universities, including the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Edinburgh. Now she teaches American students in Oxford and London, where her subjects are World Drama, Shakespeare and Oxford in Literature. She lives in a converted barn in the Cotswolds and looks out over a beautiful landscape. She loves travelling, going to museums and art galleries, listening to music, and, of course, reading books and talking about them

Dr. Cathy Roberts
Dr. Cathy Roberts has "popped" in and out of FSU London for several years, teaching social psychology, social problems and population and society at various times. She is otherwise an Independent Research Consultant - practicing under the banner of "Tedious Research" - a very honest person. Her main areas of research interest and writing are interpersonal violence, the evaluation of therapeutic and learning programmes, service and autism. "I love the atmosphere of the London Centre and the commitment of FSU students. I learn so much from my students when I teach.
